Folkloristische dansvereniging De Korenaer   Almelo        The folklore association “De Korenaer” -Ear of corn- has at heart the continuation of original expressions of Twente’s culture through costume, through songs and folk dance and through music and recitals. The association was set up on November 12th  1946 by members of the rural community around the town of Almelo in Twente. From this rural background the characteristics of this part of the country still have been preserved and expressed successfully both in the Netherlands and abroad. The authentic costumes of “De Korenaer” date from the late 19th century. The group is dressed in the so-called everyday costume. In contrast with the black suits and dresses are the white handmade clogs and the white mob-caps and cotton print aprons of the women. The group performs some twenty original dances from the eastern part of the Netherlands accompanied by some accordionists. The regional dialect “de Mooderspraoke”, is kept alive in old songs and recitals. More information will gladly be given at the secretaryship. Push for the (e-mail)address “Contact”.
